Biz Blog: Developing, Managing and Marketing a Company Blog

January 20, 2011

The Southeastern Michigan Chapter of the Society for Technical Communication (STC/SM) will offer a January 2011 STC/SM Program Meeting on Thursday, January 20, 2011. We are joining with the STC Carolina and STC Rochester Chapters of STC to present a webinar with three short, narrowly-focused presentations, with one speaker from each of the chapters. This, "lighting-round" of presentations will focus on the general theme of job searching with social networking technologies, as well as extending specific online tools and techniques beyond a job search to the workplace.

In addition to the webinar, we are also hosting an informal get together at Thomson Reuters in Dexter, MI; please join us to view the webinar for free, as well as view STC/SM's portion of the webinar in person.

Program Overview

According to ePolicy Institute founder Nancy Flynn, while a new blog is now created every second, corporate blogging remains relatively new and largely untapped. In 2005, only 10% of small businesses had incorporated blogs into their marketing plans.

For Lawrence Technological University graduate and Creative Director Charlotte Bohnett, her employer was part of that 10%. Join Charlotte on October 13 as she shares her experiences transitioning from blog reader to blog developer, manager, marketer, and ultimately professional blogger. Faculty member Tom Glennan also joins, discussing the newbie's perspective on business blogging.
