About
the STC-SM listserv
The STC-SM chapter listserv is available to all members. The
listserv is an e-mail list that chapter leaders use to do the
following:
• Distribute job postings
• Announce upcoming events
• Distribute TECHcomments (the chapter newsletter)
• Communicate chapter news
However, one of the most important benefits of the chapter
listserv is networking and communicating with fellow members on
topics related to our profession. For example, when members need
advice on a particular tool or a particular idea, they can post
messages to the listserv. These messages are sent via e-mail to
all members who have joined the listserv. It's a great way to
get quick feedback from fellow professionals!
STC-SM listserv e-mail messages contain
"[stcsemc-l]" in the subject line. If you have not been
receiving e-mails like this, you probably have not signed up to
join the listserv.
1. Go to the listserv
website.
2. Under the Subscribing to Stcsemc-l heading, enter your e-mail
address, name, and password and indicate whether you want to
receive the digest version.
Note: Although the Your name
field is technically an optional field, the listserv administrator
will not approve your request to join the listserv unless you
provide your name.
3. Click the Subscribe button.
The chapter listserv manager will review your
request. When your request is approved, you will receive a message
that contains information about sending messages to the listserv
and changing your preferences for the list. Note that you must
enter your password to change your list preferences.
Note: We’ve had some trouble with the
password reminder feature on the listserv Web site, so please
keep track of your password.
Questions? Contact the listserv
manager.
We encourage you to use the listserv to network with other chapter
members. However, we ask that you follow a few guidelines before
sending messages:
• Do not endorse or promote companies, political parties,
or religious groups. Offering your opinion on products or services
is fine; advertising them is not.
• Do not provide personal information about members without
their express permission. If you need to forward an e-mail address,
phone number, or other personal information to another member,
be sure to send a message directly to that member.
• Be judicious in what you post to the listserv. Messages
and discussions should enhance, not diminish, the value of STC
membership. When you reply to a listserv message, everyone in
the listserv mailing group receives your response.
• Remove your e-mail address
from the listserv if your address changes; then subscribe with
your new e-mail address.
1. Go to the listserv
website.
2. Under the About Stcsemc-I heading, click the Stcsemc-I
Archives link.
3. In the Stcsemc-I Private Archives Authentication page, enter
your e-mail address and password.
Note: By default, you receive a password reminder
message each month.
