Announcement |
The
Southeastern Michigan Chapter of the Society for Technical Communication
(STC/SM) will offer an STC/SM Program Meeting on Wednesday, October
13, 2010, hosted at Lawrence Technological University, in Southfield,
Michigan. The program will focus on the development and lifecycle
of corporate blogs, featuring Charlotte Bohnett.
This
is an excellent opportunity to learn and think about the potential
of blog development for technical writers, network with your colleagues,
and find out about new member services your STC/SM council has been
developing. In addition, we will also hold a surprise door prize
giveaway at the event for attendees—win your STC/SM T-shirt!
We
look forward to the possibility of seeing you in a relaxed, professional
setting, also including a catered dinner option for attendees. For
more information or if you have any other questions, visit the STC/SM
Chapter Programs webpage, or send an email to the STC/SM
Programs Manager at < programs@stc-sm.org >. To register,
send an email
to the STC/SM Registration
Coordinator at < register@stc-sm.org >. |

Overview |
|
According
to ePolicy Institute founder Nancy Flynn, while a new blog
is now created every second, corporate blogging remains relatively
new and largely untapped. In 2005, only 10% of small businesses
had incorporated blogs into their marketing plans.
For Lawrence
Technological University graduate and Creative Director Charlotte
Bohnett, her employer was part of that 10%. Join Charlotte
on October 13 as she shares her experiences transitioning
from blog reader to blog developer, manager, marketer, and
ultimately professional blogger. Faculty member Tom Glennan
also joins, discussing the newbie's perspective on business
blogging.
