Have you ever been interested in learning more about APIs and API documentation? It’s one of the fastest growing areas of technical communication, and it’s quickly becoming a common job requirement. APIs, or application programming interfaces, are sets of functions and methods that allow you to interface to a program or service running on another computer. APIs have become increasingly prevalent, and more technical writers are needed to document the core functionality of these APIs.
On February 13, STC-San Diego and WTD-San Diego are co-hosting a virtual presentation where Tom Johnson will discuss API documentation concepts, the OpenAPI specification, and the documentation tool Swagger UI. Tom Johnson is the author of the blog idratherbewriting.com, which provides technical writing resources, such as API training, blog posts, podcasts, and other material for beginner and experienced level technical communicators. Tom currently works as a technical writer for Amazon in Sunnyvale, California.
