On April 28, 2019, the Southeastern Michigan and West Michigan Shores chapters held a joint networking event at the Michigan State Horticulture Gardens and Butterfly House in East Lansing. The April weather was kind to us—we dodged the snow and enjoyed a beautiful, sunny day among the butterflies and plants.

This was a great opportunity to catch up with old friends and make new connections. There were lots of conversations during this informal event, including:

  • The current job market for technical writers. There are lots of postings in Warren, Sterling Heights, and Troy.
  • Our love for Techsmith and SnagIt, including using SnagIt to capture short videos of bugs in programs
  • The upcoming STC Summit in Denver, Colorado. Three STC-SM members are attending this year. We hope you have a fabulous time, Katherine, Kelly, and Maryann! If you haven’t heard, you canregister to watch the live broadcast of the leadership day sessions on Sunday, May 5.
  • The great resource that we have is our chapter’s Slack workspace. If you’re an STC-SM member and haven’t already signed up for Slack, contact our membership manager to get access.

We hope to make this an annual event, and we hope that you’ll be able to join us next year!
