Virtual Book Club—April 2019

Mark your calendars! Our next virtual book club takes place on Thursday, April 18, at 7 p.m. During this event, we will discuss Alan Alda’s book: If I Understood You, Would I Have This Look on My Face? My Adventures in the Art and Science of Relating and Communicating. This virtual book club event is open to anyone—whether or not you’re a member of STC or STC-SM—so even if you’re just interested in some edifying discussions, you’re welcome to join us!

The discussion will take place in Zoom. We’ll send you the login details by email prior to the event. Please register by Tuesday, April 16, so that we have time to send you the login information.

Alan Alda is a renowned writer, actor, and director and has been nominated for various prestigious awards, including an Emmy, Oscar, and Tony award, but he’s also a technical communicator and advocate for communication and science.

Alan Alda strongly believes in helping enable scientists and other technical professionals communicate information as clearly as possible and has encouraged innovation and learning among young students and professionals alike. This makes his book a perfect fit for our next STC-SM virtual book club discussion!

In 2014, Alda received the STC Honorary Fellow award, which is presented to individuals who are not members of the Society for Technical Communication but have become notable figures within the field of technical communication and have performed a significant service to the STC society.

Alan Alda continues to share his passion for learning and communication through various programs and initiatives that continue to help grow the tech comm professionals of the future.
