STC-SM and the Northeastern Ohio STC Chapter are hosting a joint webinar on January 21!
Join us on Tuesday, January 21 from 7-8:30 p.m. for the exciting webinar What Harry Potter Professors Can Teach Us About Instructional Design! During this event, speaker Jamye Sagan will take us on a magical journey to discuss prominent professors in the famous Harry Potter series and the lessons we can learn from them to improve our instructional design techniques and technical communication skills.
In this program, we will review various Hogwarts professors to analyze the effectiveness of their lesson delivery. Within the lens of each professor profile, we will share more practical tips on tackling common training issues, as well as provide some real-life (aka Muggle) training examples.
By the end of the presentation, you will have even more tools to confidently tackle many basic training requests.
Even if you have neither read the Harry Potter books nor watched the movies, you can still learn something from the Hogwarts instructors!
- Include a variety of activities and techniques in your curriculum to help learners maintain interest, engage with the content, and remember key concepts.
- Balance your knowledge of course material with knowledge of what your audience needs to know and be able to skillfully handle any distractions.
- Know when and how to reward your learners, whether by giving a physical reward or by offering verbal and written praise.
